Cultural Diversity and Acceptance Cultural diversity and acceptance are important to everyone regardless of their major or place in life. Diversity is becoming more and more common in all countries and universities; therefore it is valuable to learn how to properly interact with others. There are many ways in which culture may cause conflict in day to day activities, or arise in a place of work or class. Classrooms present different types of cultural conflict and provide can provide many lessons on cultural diversity to students and teachers. Teachers and educators have to work with students from different cultures and backgrounds, and should be made aware of how that could affect their lesson plans and teaching strategies. Teachers should be aware of cultural differences and can also act as role models for their students to show others how they should interact with one another even though they might not share their values, beliefs, or ideas. In order to do well in school and students need to feel cared for and respected. Everyone can learn something from anyone and keeping an open mind and being understanding is the best way to treat others and let them know they are respected and cared for. Especially when working with ELL, it is vital that they feel understood and that their work is recognized.
